Simple Home Decor Changes for Fall

I’ve become much more fond of simplistic design since moving to our little ranch home that is roughly 1,000 square feet smaller than our last one. Besides the reduction in square footage, I also have less surfaces to style and decorate. It did take a little while to get used to the idea, but now it is a welcomed change.

Changing up my decor for the seasons can be as simple as switching out what’s in the vase on our dining room console table or exchanging the the living throw pillow covers for something more cozy for the fall season.

Here is what our dining room looks like this year:

Below is the view from our front office/guest room combo into the dining room.

If fall were a feeling, it would be gentle warmth. I like to bring in warmer tones this time of year.

Both girls agree. They've been enjoying slightly cooler days outside.

I mentioned earlier that I often just trade out the stems in this vase for something to go with the new season. I like to take advantage of the wind-blown branches in my yard that fall from a huge oak tree next door. :)

Where a piece of coral used to sit, this cute white pumpkin dish is now on display.

I love the way the sunlight streams in during the evening.

As the sun sets, I use this woven table lamp for some cozy ambience.

The lamp is from Target and has been sold out for some time now. But, I have sourced several similar alternatives at the end of this post!

Throw blankets are such an easy way to add color and texture to a space. It almost feels like cheating. ;)

Now here’s a look into our living room:

But, as usual, the pillow insert was lumpy and lame looking so I switched it out with some of my down-filled inserts. They look so much better!

I replaced the gray stripe pillows with these reversible pillow covers that were just $17 each and came with a pillow insert.

I always get asked where the armchairs are from because they are not linked within the widgets below. They are from IKEA, a brand that does not participate in any affiliate programs. The slipcovers are from ComfortWorks and I wrote a full review of them here.

You may also notice the art on our Frame TV is different. I love switching up the image. Generally, I can find digital art that’s under $3 each. I’ve linked those options below for you too.

Did you notice the subtle change in the throw blanket? Again, this might be the easiest little decor trick there is. Just add a throw. ;)

Lastly, a perfect example of how a few small changes are all that’s necessary sometimes. The pillow is simply turned over (remember, it’s reversible), the throw is different, and I used new neutral art - a picture of a beached boat in warm tones. Our foster dog, Betty, just wanted to model it for you.
