Oct 20 Fuss-Free Outdoor Furniture for Our Dock

You know that feeling you get when you’ve been waiting so long for something to happen, that when it finally does, you almost can’t believe it!? Well, I FINALLY got to create a cute living space on our dock with the help of Wayfair!

To create a place to relax and entertain, I wanted a pair of swivel club chairs and a sofa. Chairs that swivel were really important to me because they’d make viewing any direction really easy. We have the pool on one side, the canal on the other, TVs on two sides of the dock and neighbors to chat with all around us. I searched for swivel club chairs first and then clicked on related products to find the matching sofas for each brand of chairs. This is the pair of swivel club chairs I chose and the matching loveseat to go with them.

Putting them together was easy. Just get yourself a nut driver or ratchet and socket wrench instead of tediously tightening each bolt with the wrench that was provided. I assembled all of the furniture myself (as always) and they are light enough for one person to move. No issues there!

Believe me, I had an internal struggle when I had to decide what color of furniture I wanted on our dock. You know I like things light and bright, but I’m also a realist and don’t want to spend my time worrying about white cushions getting dirty if someone breathes on them. Also, I live in Florida. On the water. Need I say more? Most of those photos with beautiful white or natural fiber/rope outdoor furniture that you see in photos online are literally in the desert. There’s low humidity and a rare chance of rain. We’ve got the opposite thing going on here, so I went with dark and modern to maintain my sanity!

If you’ve ever googled swivel chairs, you know they can be pretty pricy. So, I was happily surprised to find such a great deal on this set! I’m glad I ordered when I did because they do sell out pretty fast!

I also like that the back of the furniture is sleek looking.

I think the furniture is pretty comfy! My husband can fit comfortably as well, and he’s a big guy. I like the wider arms of the chairs and do wish the loveseat had the same arm dimensions for aesthetic purposes. For some reason, they’re a tad skinnier. The cushions are reversible, which will extend their life and wear.

It may be worth mentioning that before I brought the furniture out on our covered dock, I sprayed the cushions thoroughly with Scotchguard because I had a bunch of extra cans laying around. However, the reviews weren’t fabulous when it came to UV protection. So, I’m going to re-spray with this 303 brand that I’ve used on our boat upholstery. If you use a fabric protector, make sure you do it outside away from anything else! Scotchguard recommends to douse an inconspicuous area of the material and then “rub vigorously” with a white cloth. If any color bleeds off, do not use. If it doesn’t move full steam ahead. My cushion color didn’t rub off at all.

I have ordered SO many things from Wayfair over the years, but especially during our interior renovation at the end of 2019. I keep coming back because the customer service has always been really awesome. You do sort of take a chance when you order something online, but most of us are used to this by now and it’s been even more popular since COVID showed up. In my experience, if anything arrives damaged, Wayfair’s customer service will offer the option of a replacement or a discount off the product’s price. What more can you ask for?
