Make Room for Conversation on a Small Front Porch
This post is in partnership with Christmas Tree Shops andThat! As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting brands that support House Full of Summer!
I'm really excited about this series of blog posts in partnership with Christmas Tree Shops andThat! When I was asked to participate in a series of decor-related challenges, I of course said yes. Sometime last year I realized we had an "andThat!" store just down the road from where I worked and have loved perusing through it since the first time I went in.
The first challenge is decorating a small space. It dawned on me that my front porch had sat sad and empty for sometime. I remember really loving the images of our home's front porch before we bought it. But for some reason, it was pretty much forgotten as I went about decorating the rest of our house. I had always thought about adding a couple of little chairs and a table out there so that we could actually sit there if we felt like it. The funny thing is that when either my dad or my father in law visit, they love pulling out a chair from our garage to sit in our driveway and watch the world (er, neighbors and their dogs) go by. Now, they will actually have a chair to sit in and a side table to hold their beer. ;)
Here are some snaps from my shopping trip! I pretty much figured out my furniture layout while I was in the store. :)
Now, come on over and see what I brought home!
During my visit to the andThat! store, I found the perfect bistro set! AND it was only $59! The darker color is perfect for outdoors and can be easily sprayed down for cleaning. There are sometimes additional products in the store that you may not see online. I have found great deals by going in to shop. I do, however, love this set that I found online too! Neutral is always a good idea. :)
I decided the chairs needed some comfy outdoor cushions. There were so many options to choose from, but I liked the shape and fit of these best. Don't they look like they were made for this set? I've already tried them out and they're pretty darn comfy!
If we have inclement weather, the cushions can be brought in and stored.
Your local andThat! store will have its own variety of patterns and shapes. Online, you can find similar outdoor lumbar pillows. .
Lanterns are a great addition to pretty much any space. At $16.99 each, these two silver lanterns were a great deal. I have a feeling they'll be "traveling" lanterns, since you can definitely use them indoors, too! I'm a huge fan of mixing up my own decor to create fresh looks for each space. Here is a lantern that comes in silver or copper.
In addition to the silver pair, I also couldn't resist bringing home these tropical frond lanterns because they perfectly matched the Palm Leaves All-Weather Area Rug I chose. It's really great quality and comes in several different sizes.
Layering a mat over a larger rug on the front porch is an easy way to add color and interest.
I really liked these tropical rugs too!
This cute little dish is the perfect blend of turquoise and green palm fronds and it will serve a purpose as a beer top or wine cork holder. Come to think of it, it's a perfectly fine place to tap ashes, should you have guests that head outdoors to smoke. (We encountered this recently, and being non-smokers, we had no ash trays on hand!)
Oops! How did that get in my cart? ;) Okay, perhaps a bottle of wine isn't necessarily included in "front porch decor", but I'm pretty sure this Beach House wine is a great accessory for creating a welcoming space. ;) If you like wine and munchies, stay tuned for the next challenge!
Do you want to have a seat and visit? If so, mission accomplished! I'm so glad you came to see my newly decorated porch and I hope you'll subscribe to receive a heads up whenever there's a new post!
