Pencil Christmas Trees: The Best Brands and Best Sales Ending SOON!

The invention of pencil trees as Christmas decor is one of the best ideas ever. Especially if you’re a Christmas decorating nut like me and one of your goals in life is to have a Christmas tree in every room of your house! :D Since we’ll have less rooms in our new home, I’m that much closer to reaching my goal! Ahh the silver lining of downsizing! Haha! I’ll definitely be touching on the pros and cons of downsizing in a future post, but let’s just stay focused on all things pencil trees right now, because time is of the essence!

Even in a larger home, you may find that because of furniture layouts, door positioning, etc., you just don’t have the room to squeeze in a full-sized Christmas tree. Enter the powerfully compact pencil tree! You can get them in just about any height, so if your ceilings are higher, look for an 8 or 9 foot tree. I believe the tallest pencil tree I’ve seen so far is 12 ft tall. I’ll be sharing those at the end of the post.

It’s worth mentioning that there is a step between a full-sized Christmas tree and a pencil tree, and it is often called a “slim” or “slender” Christmas tree. Truth be told, I’m a HUGE fan of both of these shapes because I just don’t like having to pull my Christmas tree so far away from the wall. Unfortunately, 9 ft slim flocked tree, below, sold out just weeks after I bought it a few years ago. And also sadly, I won’t be able to put it up in our new home because it’s too tall! :(

My obsession with pencil trees started 4 years ago when I was looking for something to replace the not so cute Christmas tree I had. My husband and I were newlyweds and it was our first Christmas in our new home. We didn’t even have furniture in several of our rooms yet, so Christmas decorating wasn’t huge on my priority list.

After some googling, I found out that Michael’s was having a killer Christmas tree sale early in the season! Mark your calendars because right around the end of October and beginning of November each year they have had this same sale! I remember quite well that my husband got out of work late that evening and ran to the store to pick up the tree for me while it was still on sale. :) BUT, do NOT buy the $39 pencil tree. Trust me. It is not cute. For just $10 more, get yourself the $49 7ft. Pre-Lit Artificial Pencil Christmas Tree, Clear Lights by Ashland® (it used to be called “cashmere”) pencil tree!

This tree is beautiful.

Its branches are almost soft and puffy looking. It’s quite full and it doesn’t shed! This tree is so easy to put up!

The next year, I ordered the flocked version of the pencil tree online for $79. It looks like this year it is $99, but still the best deal you’ll find. It is also easy to put up, but of course the flocking does get everywhere. Just expect that and be prepared to vacuum when you’re finished! No big deal, really.

In regard to faux Christmas trees 9 ft tall, pencil, slim or full, the price for this 9 ft. Brighton Pencil Artificial Christmas Tree is amazing! I can picture two of these flanking a fireplace in a room with high ceilings! Here is a very similar tree by Treetopia on Amazon, but check out that price tag. If you don’t know the market prices, you won’t know what a “good” deal actually looks like. But, luckily for you, I’ve done the legwork in searching far and wide for pencil trees in all sizes!

Some places that are perfectly suited for pencil trees are: Bedrooms, nurseries, an office, the corner of your kitchen, the foyer, a tight dining room space or any corner of your home that needs a little Christmas cheer!
