Southern Glam Christmas Decor

That charm of the South has drawn me in and I’m fully embracing it in my Christmas decor this year with the help of The Jolly Christmas Shop! Being just an hour from the Georgia border in northeast Florida, we still feel very much a part of the South. Last year’s Christmas decor can be described as light, airy and coastal. This year, with the addition of my new gray dining chair slipcovers, I was feeling inspired to bring in deeper neutrals and rich golds into my Christmas decor. Let’s start with how I tackled the “main” Christmas tree in our home, which is the 9 ft slim flocked pre-lit tree in our living room that you can see upon entering our house.
I really wanted to find some velvet wired ribbon and was happy to see that The Jolly Christmas Shop carries this Ivory Velvet Wired Christmas Ribbon! When using light colors for the holidays, just choose a textured fabric to bring a feeling of warmth and luxury. Tucking and weaving the ribbon throughout the branches from top to bottom is the first step in decorating the tree. My ribbon waterfalls down this tree in a vertical line that feels a bit more traditional to me, which is exactly what I was going for. ;)
My ribbon method is to start by squeezing the end of the ribbon into a point and stuffing it back into the branches as far as you can reach at the top of the tree. Secure the ribbon as you loop it into the tree with a wire branch tip near the “trunk”. Then, spread the adjacent branches over the ribbon to hide the tucked spot and help your tree appear fuller. This is especially important if you have a rather inexpensive Christmas tree without a gazillion tips! Notice there are branches or an ornament at the tucked in areas to create sort of a “seam” where I wanted the ribbon hidden in the tree. Below, I used an over-sized Gold Sequinned Ball Christmas Ornament to fill in the space. These orbs come in 5” or 6” diameters and are total show-stoppers on my tree!
Magnolias are a part of the southern landscape and I love using fresh trimmings and blossoms from the trees outside in my decor all year round. For Christmas, I like a bit of glitz and glam, so I looked for faux gold magnolia leaves to incorporate in my decor. These 34" Gilded Gold Magnolia Leaf Christmas Sprays could not have been more perfect! They are exactly what I wanted and even better in person. They are huge! If you follow along with me on Instagram, you may have seen a few sneak peeks in my stories as I recorded the opening of my packages. Miss Summer (our Great Dane x English Mastiff mix) thought the package full of Christmas goodies was just as exciting as I did and incidentally snorted some glitter up her nose. I don’t recommend snorting the glitter. Please do not try this at home! :D
As I was saying, these sprays are very large and expand a few more inches once you spread out the wired leaves. I ordered 15 of them and am so glad I did! I used several on my 9 ft flocked slim tree and purposely used them to add height. I’m 5’8” with 3 inch heels on in this photo, so you can see how the sprays used as a tree topper can help your tree appear taller.
Although I do use slightly different themes for each room, I saved a few sprays to use in other areas of my home because I still like the decor to feel cohesive throughout. Bringing a few of the main accents from one room into another is a great way to do that.

Now onto the dining room tree! Since the dining room has a large coastal canvas art on the wall, I flow with it for the holidays and keep the accents in this room just a bit more reminiscent of the beach! Aren’t these Iridescent Pearl Glass Ball Ornaments just perfect for this room!? They come in 4” and 6” diameters and remind me of capiz shells which really brighten up this corner!
This gorgeous Gold and Silver Embroidered Wired Christmas Ribbon is the perfect way to bring the main accent of gold from the other rooms into the coastal-themed dining room. The gray background of the ribbon matches my dining chairs wonderfully, too.
